Safe Routes to School National Partnership (“National Partnership”) recognizes that users of its fireupyourfeet.org website (the “Site”) value their privacy, especially the privacy of their children. Fire Up Your Feet is a core program of Safe Routes to School National Partnership, available to any elementary and middle school in grades K-8 nationally.
1. The Information National Partnership Collects via the Site
When you visit the Site, our servers automatically record certain information about your usage including, for example, the name of your Internet service provider, the browser and type of computer that you are using, the website that referred you to us, the pages you view and the date and time of those page views. We use this information on an aggregate basis to gather data about activity on the Site, which we use to improve the usefulness of the Site. We do not use this information on any kind of individual basis.
We may also send one or more cookies (a small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters) to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. You can set your web browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Some features of the Site, however, may not function properly if you disable the ability to accept cookies.
We also collect certain personally identifiable information about you, if you voluntarily provide that information to us. When you register on the Site, you provide us with your name, your address, your email address, and your school name, as well as some other information about you. And when you submit records regarding your child(ren)’s activities on the Site, we collect the name that you provide, the date and kind of activity, and the amount of time your child(ren) spent doing that activity.
2. The Way National Partnership Uses Personally Identifiable Information
We use the email address you provide us when you register on the Site to send you emails periodically about the Site and about your efforts and achievements to increase physical activity. You may opt-out from receiving such messages by sending an email firstname.lastname@example.org and asking that you not receive future email messages. You may also opt-out by following the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email.
We use the information that you provide in the activity logs to determine which schools will receive awards.
We do not disclose any personally identifiable information to any third party. We share information collected via the Site only in the aggregate, but never individually.
When you send e-mail or other communications to us, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services.
We use both your personally identifiable information and certain non-personally identifiable information (such as anonymous usage data, IP addresses, browser type, clickstream data, etc.) to improve the quality of the user experience and the design of the Site and to create new features, functionality, and services by storing, tracking, and analyzing user behavior, preferences, trends, and actions.
We may release personally identifiable information and/or non-personally-identifiable information if required to do so by law, or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with state and federal laws or respond to a court order, subpoena, or search warrant.
3. Special Notice to Parents
We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under thirteen (13), unless a school coordinator first obtains parental consent. We also strive not to obtain any personally identifiable information about children over thirteen (13), unless we first obtain parental consent. If you have any concerns about information that your child(ren) may have provided to us via the Site, or any information about your child(ren) that you or another adult may have provided, please contact us at email@example.com. We will remove all personally identifiable information about your child(ren) from our records upon your request.
National Partnership has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of information within our control. These measures include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store personal data. Please recognize that if you send us an e-mail, the information contained in the e-mail is not secure against interception.
5. Corrections/Updating Personal Information
If your personal information changes (such as your mailing or email address), or if you wish to have your information removed from our database, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will update or remove that personal data.
